Art, I realized, is one of the greatest ways that I can connect with myself, explore the depths of my soul and express emotions that words, I sometimes fail to find, often fail to do. It offers a sanctuary where my soul can be itself, breathe and free it from the constraints of everyday life especially now that I have chosen to return to school and pursue another degree on my third language.

The process of creating art serves as another form of meditation that allows me to be fully present, be in tune with my inner thoughts and feelings, learn different kind of patience and experience a kind of joy that I can only describe as bliss. Creating also allowed and allows me to conquer fears I didn’t know I still have at this age.

Creating art and posting it openly continuously heal my fear of being seen, of not being perfect and take my space in this world. Creativity required me a different kind of bravery. It asks me to face my inner fears and uncertainties, pushes me beyond my comfort zones especially when I was starting and I didn’t like the first pieces of what I have created. They were of course not so good yet I went on and just kept on creating until I started looking forward to checking who will have birthday so I have more reasons to create.

I have let my fear of being judged go and just simply create. The more I create, the more inner peace I have. I am grateful for being able to fully embrace courage and this had lead me to unlock a deeper connection with myself.

When I am creating, nothing matters. Most of the time I feel lost and don’t know where to start. I have things in my head like, “what if my next creation isn’t as beautiful as the last?’ and if I am creating as birthday gift, “what if the person I am gifting it to will not like it?” But I need to remind myself that I am creating for myself and how I feel when I am creating is more important than what the recipient will say.

That when I am creating, I am always shifting between losing and finding myself and that I always have the power to alter something and adjust what I am creating to my liking. And there is always a challenge in always ending up with something I never thought could look amazing.

What surprises me about creating is that there is always something new to be created. There is an endless source of inspiration around us. All I have to do is look around me or if that doesn’t help, close my eyes and listen to what my heart is telling me. All I have to do is arm myself with so much openness in life and life will give me everything I need to create I need as long as I show eagerness and continue with it.
